TAKE ACTION TODAY: Join us in calling for justice against the Alameda County Board of Supervisors and Alameda County Sheriff.
On July 15th, less than 30 minutes after asking for help, Mario Michael Martinez suffered an asthma attack in his cell at Alameda County’s Santa Rita Jail. The failure of the Alameda County Sheriffs to respond cost him his life.
This wasn’t the first incident of abuse or neglect with Mario; he has previously been beaten by prison deputies who also cut his braids, for which he filed a grievance.
We know that far too often we are losing the brown and black women and men to the hands of the same three actors: District Attorneys, Sheriffs, and Corporations that are profiting from the misery of black and brown bodies.
